About the PGNC

The Plant Gene Nomenclature Committee (PGNC) was established in 2024 with the aim to assign standardized names and symbols to plant genes. This project is a collaboration between the Oak Ridge Center for Bioenergy Innovation and the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC).

We are currently naming genes in the model tree species Populus trichocarpa.
